Issue on National Minimum Wage

Regarding the disputes on National Minimum Wage, please check the attachments for:
1) Progress Report on Actions by ACCCIM since 2007;
2) Press Release Issued on Feb 4, 2013 (Chinese version) and Feb 5, 2013 (English version);
3) Press Release Issued on Feb 8, 2013 in response to Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai’s announcement on Foreign Workers (FW) levy
4) Press Release Issued on Feb 14, 2013 on Strike of FW caused by MW
Meanwhile, refer to the National Wages Consultative Council (NWCC)’s press statement dated 20th Feb 2013 for application to extend the implementation date of MW for foreign workers, please be noted that:-
1.       The extension ONLY apply to foreign workers;
2.       Employers who have already implemented the MW are NOT allowed to apply for an extension;
3.       Employers who apply for an extension of the wage implementation date were prohibited from deducting the levy and accommodation costs from the workers' pay
4.       Employers who had implemented the minimum wage policy but who have run into difficulties paying the wages could apply to the Government to be allowed to deduct the costs of levy and accommodation from the workers' pay
5.       Employers in the plantation sector who have implemented the minimum wage policy cannot apply for an extension and neither can they deduct the cost of accommodation from the workers' pay
 
To apply for extension to implement Minimum Wage for FW, please submit the following documents:
a.       Application Letter;
b.      Registration with SSM with Company Details;
c.       Financial Report of Company from 2009-2011;
d.      Wage report of Foreign Workers hired in the company
